My Favourite Shop

My Favourite Shop

The smell of rain! As light showers hit the ground and attempt to disrupt the fallen autumn leaves swept together by the street sweeper...

I quickened my steps in order to avoid the rain. If I get to oxford street before the heavy downpour unleashes, I can sit for the rest of the day. I might even help them close shop if they want. I'm nice like that. :)

You see, this "Nigerian international student living in London" life I'm living is not easy. My daddy sends me money every time I sneeze and the shops collect the money from me like I owe it to them.

I'm not a party girl as such but I attend events that require me to dress up often. London theatre, picnics, birthdays, church events, weddings, even attending lectures has become an event on its own. The Chinese babes oppress us with a mix of very good knock offs and very expensive designer ensemble. The Greek babes are very simple but they sport the latest trainers, pumps, accessories and phones. The Middle Eastern babes have Ann Summers and Victoria's Secret on speed dial then there's me.

I have to keep the attention of my Nigerian men who are only really interested in Oyinbo babes for "experimental purposes" and also flirt with the beautiful Greek men who already know they are God's gift to university life but only interested in their kind and the Asians (brown skins) because let's face it, someone has to do most of the group work!

As I walk past the shops, a nice lady is trying to sell some Arabic perfume to me. She almost sprays it in my eyes Hian! Not interested please. I only have one mission. To get to my favourite shop before the rain starts.

I see a group of girls giggling their way into H&M I almost look at them with envy but then I remember that I'm somewhat a loner. I only need one friend boy or girl that I can call whenever I need to and will know when to stay away too. *Le sigh* It does get lonely, not all the time tho. When it does, I flash my biggest, brightest, loveliest smile and hide the loneliness (if I can even call it that).

Thunder strikes and trust London rain! It starts to pour like there's a party going on in heaven and we are getting champagne showers. I quickly rush into the nearest store. Wouldn't want to ruin my original Australian Uggs and this Marc Jacobs coat I spent daddy's last allowance on...

I turn around and a raindrop lands on my eyelash. As I wipe it off, sadness becomes me. I'm in Harrods! I have to sneeze again because I know that I will buy that Swarovski phone case I've been looking at for weeks and don't forget the Sergio Rossi shoe that Lizzie told me was now on sale. From 1200 pounds to 700 pounds!!! I mean if that's not a bargain, then I see why we are not friends.

As I dust the rain droplets off my white coat, I look into the distance across the street and see my favourite store fading in the rain. I just wanted a caramel macchiato!!! As I turn around and head into Harrods, I pick up 4 bottles of Primvs still mineral water at 5.95 pounds each. I just spent 23 pounds on 4 bottles of water. *Sigh* It's going to be a long semester!
